Under "settings" --> "advanced settings" --> "network" you can change the connection type from UpnP to static (UpnP is default). The static port can be defined in the "bitcoin.conf". Default port for static connection is 8333 if not differently defined in the bitcoin.conf. In my person… take also into account that nodes need some time to connect. However, 8 connections should be fine for the average user. Also to note, a running node is visible on the network, take blockchain. info connection log for example, an attacker could target, audit and exploit running nodes.
1. I am simply seeking seed money to jump start my enterprise. The seed money will be used to create a website, secure an office, hire two people, and secure the new Articles of Incorporation and proper licenses for the new businesses. My new ventures include a music licensing/publishi…c), real estate (the market is coming back), and a business consulting agency. The original question was [sic] "What is the fastest CPU miner that I could use". Based on the answers, it seems, that everyone by default went to cpuminer/minerd. I use it also. However... bfgminer (all except the latest version) has the ability to be used as a cpu miner . I have not … may want to also dl bfgminer and play around. Especially if you want to cpu mine other alt coins (ie BBQ, Alpha, Xen, etc---anything with a low difficulty). And if the day comes where you are ready to mine with a gpu, bfgminer is most likely going to be one of the miners you will use.
